Hamed Fatahian

Welcome! I'm Hamed, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Michigan. With a focus on couples and adult individuals, my expertise spans a decade of helping diverse couples and individuals navigate relationship challenges. I specialize in working with neurodivergent clients, offering support and guidance in navigating their challenges in the neurotypical world.

My Passion:

I believe if we can transform the couple’s relationships, we are not only helping them, but also helping them and their families for generations to come. Also, most of people’s toughest struggles are related to their relational issues so, as the relationship improves, the person's individual problems seem less challenging. My passion is to work with couples and individuals to help them rebuild their relationships and to reshape their pattern of reactions.

 My Strength:

My experience as an Iranian American who has been living and working in both countries helps me to be more understanding and supportive to cross-cultural clients. I understand the subtle cultural differences that can become magnified and destroy relationships. I am able to build a bridge of understanding and acceptance that can reunite a relationship.

My personal experience as a husband and father over the past decade has given me the real world experience to speak into the lives of my clients. I understand the daily challenges of working, parenting and maintaining a loving connection with one's spouse.

Therapeutic Approach:

My main therapeutic orientation is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an attachment-based model that has been developed by Dr. Sue Johnson and her team over the past 40 years in more than 40 countries around the globe. EFT gives me an attachment lens, the universal language of love, that helps me not focus on the surface, but help my clients to see their underlying issues. With this model I feel more competent to work with diverse people with different issues.
